DaaMè ceramics are a special tribute to the region and culture around Mount Etna, inspired by youthful impressions that evoke rhythms and colors. Thanks to a love of design and in-depth knowledge of ceramic techniques and materials, the shapes are emphasized by glossy or matt modules.
The decorations, delicate and precise, come together to form fascinating patterns. An urban style with warm, natural nuances that clash in playful tone-on-tone gradations and, beyond illusions of perspective, evoke pleasant sensations and immediate sympathy. All the tiles in the collection are handmade and hand-painted and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor floor and wall coverings with a unique and elegant design.
The DaaMè collection, designed by Vincenzo Messina for Studio Le Nid, offers handmade cotto tiles from Etna in the formats 20×20 and 20×10, Hexagon 20×20 and Rhombus 27×12.
Handmade cotto
The terracotta is made entirely by hand from a mixture of clay from the Simeto Valley and ground volcanic rock. It has a special mineralogical composition that gives the finished product the best chemical-physical properties. The mixture is pressed by hand into molds of various shapes and sizes. Each tile is then processed once again to avoid clay contamination. Finally, it is placed in the kiln and fired.
"Handmade" is the key word of the manufacturing process that characterizes the artistic production of the Le Nid studio. The manufacturing process is carried out in a laboratory in Paternò. It consists of three phases: Glazing, decorating and firing.
