Never choose tiles only from a screen, how to order tile samples delivered to your home
A tile can look perfect on a screen and completely different once you see it in your own bathroom or kitchen. Colours change depending on the light, glossy surfaces react to windows and artificial lighting, and textures are difficult to judge from a product photo alone.
For this reason, at VITALE TILES we recommend ordering a tile sample before placing a larger tile order.
Our online shop offers more than 1,000 tile samples, allowing you to compare different colours, surfaces and materials directly in the room where the tiles will eventually be installed.
And there is another advantage: private customers can currently order two samples of their choice free of charge with the voucher code:
VT-Muster-2026
Why a tile sample can tell you more than ten product photos
Modern product photography can reproduce colours and structures very realistically. However, it cannot replace holding a real ceramic or porcelain tile in your hands.
This is particularly important for glossy wall tiles, marble-effect tiles, stone-effect tiles and colours with strong variations. A green tile, for example, can appear considerably cooler in daylight than under warm artificial lighting. A matt surface also reflects light very differently from a Lux or high-gloss finish.
A real tile sample also allows you to compare the material directly with other elements in your project.
Place the sample next to:
Kitchen cabinets,
Bathroom fixtures,
Worktops,
Wall colours,
Parquet or other flooring,
Taps, fittings or furniture.

This gives you a much more realistic impression of the finished room before ordering the full quantity.
Some of our most popular tile samples
Certain colours and collections are particularly popular among our sample orders. They range from bold decorative tiles to timeless wall tiles.
The glossy green surface of the Lume collection reacts strongly to its surroundings and to the light in the room. This makes a physical sample especially useful. On a screen, it is difficult to judge exactly how intense the green will appear or how much light the glossy surface will reflect.
Lume is particularly popular for kitchen splashbacks, bathrooms and decorative feature walls.
A completely different look can be found with the AZULEJOS LISBOA Sample.
Its Portuguese-inspired design is ideal for interiors where the tile itself is intended to become part of the decoration. With decorative tiles, a sample allows you to assess not only the colour but also the print quality, surface and interaction with surrounding materials.
The colourful Zellige collection by Marazzi is another popular choice.
Examples include:
ZELLIGE PETROLIO LUX Sample
ZELLIGE CORALLO LUX Sample
Petrolio is a deep blue-green shade, Bosco moves towards a rich forest green, while Corallo creates a much warmer accent.
These differences can be difficult to judge accurately on a monitor. When several real samples are placed next to each other in the intended room, choosing the right colour often becomes much easier.
How to order tile samples from VITALE TILES
Ordering samples works almost exactly like placing a normal order in our online shop.
First, visit our Tile Samples category. There you can browse and filter the available samples according to manufacturer, colour, surface, slip resistance, thickness and other properties.
Open the tile sample you are interested in and add it to your shopping cart.
If you select two samples, enter the following voucher code during checkout:
VT-Muster-2026
This currently allows private customers to order two tile samples free of charge.
Then simply enter your delivery address and complete the order as usual.
Samples that are in stock are processed particularly quickly. Orders placed on working days before 5:00 PM CET are generally dispatched on the same day, and delivery normally takes only a few working days.
This means you do not necessarily need to visit a showroom first just to see and feel a tile in person.
Your tile sample has arrived – what should you do next?
Do not judge a tile sample only immediately after opening the parcel.
Ideally, leave it in the room where the tile will eventually be installed for a few days.
Look at it in the morning in natural daylight. Check it again in the afternoon and once more in the evening under artificial lighting.
The differences can be surprisingly noticeable, especially with glossy, structured, strongly coloured or marble-effect tiles.
For floor tiles, place the sample on the floor rather than looking at it on a table. Wall tiles should ideally be held or positioned vertically against the intended wall.
The angle at which the light hits the surface can significantly change how the tile appears.
A sample shows the real surface – but not always the entire finished floor or wall
There is one important point to remember when ordering tile samples.
Natural stone effects, marble effects, terrazzo tiles, decorative tiles and other collections with deliberate variations can contain several different designs within the same series.
A single tile sample therefore primarily shows you:
The actual base colour,
The material quality,
The surface structure,
The level of gloss,
The feel and texture of the tile.
The material quality,
The surface structure,
The level of gloss,
The feel and texture of the tile.
However, it may not show the full variation that will be visible once an entire wall or floor has been tiled.
With marble-effect porcelain tiles, for example, different tiles may feature different veins. Zellige-inspired tiles can also deliberately contain subtle differences in colour and surface.
We therefore recommend looking at the complete product images as well. For larger projects, you can also contact us and we will help you assess the collection in more detail.
Do you need a larger or special tile sample?
Not every project can be assessed properly with a small sample.
Depending on the product, we can also organise individual tile samples and sample sizes if you require a particular format or several samples of the same tile.
Simply contact us with the article you are interested in and some information about your project.
A larger sample can be particularly useful for large-format tiles, natural stone effects or projects covering several rooms.
Tile samples for architects, planners and tilers
Reliable sampling is equally important for architects, interior designers, planners and professional tilers.
For specific projects, professional customers can request several free samples or samples for their material library.
Sample folders containing several selected tiles can also be arranged on request.
This makes it possible to compare materials directly with clients, in an architectural office or on site.
Especially during the early planning stages, real material samples can make decisions considerably easier.
Choose online, compare at home and then order your tiles
Our goal is not for you to order just any tile as quickly as possible.
Tiles often remain in a building for decades. The colour, surface and format should therefore suit both the room and the surrounding materials.
Ordering samples allows you to compare your favourites at home before making the final decision.
Explore our selection of more than 1,000 tile samples and use the voucher code VT-Muster-2026 for two samples.
If you are still unsure afterwards, you can contact VITALE TILES or visit our showroom in Netstal to see tiles on larger display areas.
We will be happy to help you find the right tile for your project.
