Gigacer Light

8 Items
Gigacer Light is a porcelain stoneware collection that interprets white through material, light and shadow rather than treating it simply as a uniform colour. Five structures – Crespo, Gesso, Rigato, Roccia and Scolpito – react differently to incoming light and give white surfaces depth and movement. With 15 formats ranging from large slabs to hexagons, pentagons, diamonds, bricks and mosaics, Light offers extensive possibilities for contemporary walls, floors and architectural interiors.

Gigacer Light – white porcelain stoneware shaped by light and texture

With Light, Italian manufacturer Gigacer explores one of the most fundamental colours in architecture: white.

Instead of treating white simply as a neutral background, the collection focuses on the relationship between ceramic material, surface structure and light.

This approach gives Light a very different character from a conventional smooth white tile.

A flat white surface often appears calm and uniform. A structured white surface, however, creates small shadows, highlights and transitions as light moves across it.

The visual character of the material therefore changes according to the direction of daylight, artificial lighting and the position of the viewer.

The collection is particularly suitable for contemporary interiors where a bright and restrained colour palette is desired without making the surface completely plain.

Crespo, Gesso, Rigato, Roccia and Scolpito

Gigacer Light is available in five distinctive structures: Crespo, Gesso, Rigato, Roccia and Scolpito.

Each uses white as its common base while creating a different material expression.

Crespo introduces subtle movement into the surface. Its texture becomes more visible under grazing light, giving the wall depth without creating an overly dominant pattern.

Gesso evokes a light mineral or plaster-like surface. It works particularly well in minimal and architectural interiors where walls are intended to remain bright, restrained and almost monolithic.

Rigato has a more directional linear structure. The orientation of these lines can form part of the overall interior design. Vertical installation can emphasise height, while horizontal layouts can visually extend a wall.

Roccia introduces a more natural, rock-inspired material character. It adds depth to the white surface while maintaining the collection's restrained palette.

Scolpito has a more sculptural expression. When illuminated from the side, its relief can create particularly pronounced shadows and highlights.

Using these five structures within one colour world gives designers the possibility to create variation without introducing additional colours.

Light as part of the architecture

The name Light directly reflects the design principle behind the collection.

Natural light changes constantly over the course of a day. A structured wall near a window can therefore appear different in the morning, around midday and in the evening.

Under diffuse lighting, the relief may remain subtle. When sunlight or artificial light reaches the wall from a shallow angle, the same structure can become much more pronounced.

Artificial lighting gives architects and interior designers even more control over this effect.

Wall lights, spotlights or indirect LED lighting can be positioned deliberately to emphasise the relief.

This makes Light particularly interesting for bathrooms, hotels, restaurants, shops, showrooms and private interiors where lighting forms an important part of the design concept.

Fifteen different formats

Another major strength of Gigacer Light is the wide range of available formats.

The collection includes classic and larger dimensions such as 120 × 120 cm, 60 × 120 cm, 60 × 60 cm, 30 × 60 cm and 20 × 20 cm.

Larger dimensions can create calmer surfaces with fewer visible grout lines.

The 120 × 120 cm format is particularly effective in contemporary interiors where the white material and its texture should read as one continuous architectural surface.

You can find further ceramic slabs in our large format tiles collection.

Medium and smaller sizes create a more visible grid and can be easier to adapt to particular walls, niches and smaller areas.

Hexagons, pentagons and diamonds

Light goes considerably further than conventional rectangular tiles.

The range includes a Small Hexagon measuring 18 × 16 cm and a Large Hexagon measuring 36 × 31 cm, allowing the same geometric language to be used at two different scales.

There is also a Small Pentagon measuring 17 × 10 cm and a Diamond format measuring 18 × 31 cm.

These shapes allow decorative surfaces to be created without relying on contrasting colours or printed patterns.

Because the elements remain white, the pattern is generated by geometry, grout lines, surface structure and light.

This is particularly suitable for minimalist interiors in which the material itself should provide visual interest.

Brick, Plate and Small formats

Gigacer also offers smaller formats including Brick 9 × 18 cm, Plate 9 × 30 cm and Small 9 × 9 cm.

These elements are suitable for decorative walls, kitchen backsplashes, bathroom niches, washbasin areas, guest bathrooms, counters, bars and feature zones.

The elongated pieces can be arranged horizontally, vertically, in staggered patterns or in more graphic layouts.

Because the collection remains monochromatic, the laying pattern has a particularly strong influence on the final appearance.

A simple change in orientation can make the surface feel considerably different without changing the material itself.

Mosaic solutions

The Light range also includes mosaic formats, including a 30 × 30 cm module made from 1.5 × 1.5 cm elements, as well as elongated stripe mosaics.

These formats make it possible to combine large-scale and small-scale surfaces within the same project.

For example, a bathroom could use large 60 × 120 cm tiles across its main walls and a finer mosaic inside a shower niche.

The change in scale separates the zones visually while the consistent white colour maintains a coherent overall design.

You can also explore further possibilities in the broader mosaic range.

Gigacer Light in bathrooms

White has traditionally been one of the most common colours in bathroom design because it creates a bright, clean and timeless atmosphere.

Gigacer Light adds an additional layer to this familiar concept by introducing texture.

A calmer structure can be used across large wall surfaces, while a more sculptural variant can highlight a shower, washbasin wall or niche.

This allows an almost entirely white bathroom to contain several visual layers without becoming busy.

White surfaces also combine easily with black fittings, chrome, brushed brass, bronze, timber furniture, natural stone and coloured sanitaryware.

For suitable floor solutions, you can also explore our floor tiles. Technical properties must always be checked for the individual product and intended application, particularly on floors and in wet areas.

Light in kitchens

Structured white ceramics can also work particularly well in contemporary kitchens.

A Light wall can form a subtle contrast with timber, dark grey, black or coloured cabinetry.

Smaller Brick and Plate formats are particularly interesting for splashbacks and decorative areas, while larger formats provide a calmer and more continuous surface.

White also combines naturally with stainless steel, marble, natural stone and dark worktops.

The texture helps distinguish the surface from a simple painted wall and gives the kitchen a stronger material character.

Living spaces and feature walls

Gigacer Light is not limited to traditional tiled areas.

The collection can be used as an architectural surface in living rooms, corridors, entrance areas or around selected interior features.

A structured wall behind furniture, artwork or lighting can remain restrained while still adding depth to the room.

The material can also work around fireplaces or as a feature wall where artificial lighting can emphasise the relief.

Because white remains highly adaptable, furniture, textiles and accent colours can be changed over time without requiring a new wall finish.

Hotels, restaurants, shops and showrooms

Commercial interiors often use carefully planned lighting, making Gigacer Light particularly relevant for hotels, restaurants, boutiques and showrooms.

A structured white wall can appear understated during the day and become much more dramatic under evening lighting.

In retail environments, white also provides a neutral background that allows products and displays to remain visually dominant.

The structure of the ceramic surface nevertheless prevents the interior from feeling completely flat.

In hotels and hospitality spaces, Light can be used behind reception desks, in bathrooms, wellness spaces, corridors or selected feature areas.

6 mm thickness

Gigacer produces the Light collection in a 6 mm thickness.

This relatively slim construction fits the architectural character of the range and works particularly well in combination with larger formats.

As with all thin large-format porcelain slabs, correct substrate preparation, handling, cutting and installation are important.

Large tiles require flat surfaces, appropriate equipment and experienced installation.

The complete range of the manufacturer can be explored in our Gigacer category.

White as more than a colour

The main strength of Gigacer Light lies in how much variation it creates from a deliberately limited colour palette.

White provides consistency. The five structures introduce material depth. Fifteen formats provide different scales and geometries. Light then changes the surface throughout the day.

The result is a collection that can appear restrained from a distance yet highly detailed when viewed more closely.

It can function as a calm architectural background or as a decorative feature depending on the chosen structure, format, laying pattern and lighting.

Gigacer Light is therefore particularly suited to contemporary bathrooms, kitchens, living areas, hotels, restaurants, shops, showrooms and architectural projects in which white plays a central role.
